How to Change ASUS Network Password?

First time Asus Router login requires the default password and username to get access to the web interface of the Asus Router. The default username and password are provided by the manufactures. They may differ for different models of Asus router and are provided on the back label of the routers. For the First time it is okay to use default credentials but if you will not change the password and username then you need to change it. As another user who knows the default credentials of your router can access your router’s admin panel and can do anything with your network and the devices attached to it. So we strongly recommend you to change the username and password of your router and do not reveal it to anyone. This is all to protect your data and network devices.

1. First of all, Login to your Asus router by visiting router.asus.com and here enter the default credentials to login. These default credentials are provided on the back of the router. Remember that these login credentials are case-sensitive so, enter them carefully.

2. After that press the Login button.

3. Once you have logged into the admin panel of your Asus Router or Asus Router Setup page. You have the access to change Router’s password. 

4. For this go to the Wireless tab > General > WPA Pre-Shared Key or Default password.

5. Enter a secure password of your choice in new and confirm password filed. (This password field needs an 8 digit password composite of letters, numbers and special characters. If you leave the field blank, the default [00000000] will be assigned for the Asus router login panel.) 

6. Now click on [Apply] button to make changes.

 After that to confirm that whether the changes have saved and applied or not, Restart your devices. Now again go to the login page and this time enter the new username and password made by you. If you successfully login to your router’s admin panel then it means you have successfully changed your router’s username and password or any of them.

In case if you can’t login using new credentials then try using default once. If you access using default once. It means you have not saved your changes. Then try above steps again and this time, DO NOT FORGET to press the Save and Apply button.

It may also happen to you that you can forget your new password or username. Don’t worry just Reset your Router and this time login to it using default credentials. As after Reset the router returns to its old or manufactured settings / default settings.

After reset process you may need to reconfigure your Router according to your needs.

How to Reset Asus Router Setup

To do this, login to the router and go to the "Factory reset" section. Click Reset/Reboot to reset the router. If you can't do this, you can also reset by pressing the reset button on the router. This button is usually located on the back of the router and has a reset label under it. Hold the Reset button for at least 10 seconds until the Router LED’s start blinking. When LED’s stop blinking this indicates that reset process is done now. After resetting the router, reconfigure the network and wireless settings of your router.
